  5. Mckenna! I am so proud of you! For your courage to travel so far from home to a new and strange land, to learn a language you had never heard before, to brave the heat and spiders and unique food. I have seen you face these challenges with great courage and optimism and with a love of the experience and the Gospel for which you were sharing. I loved how your whole face shown with joy in the pictures you sent home. I loved how much you loved every person you worked with, how you learned their story, sat in their houses, prayed for them, cried with them, and opened your heart completely to them. I loved your relentless optimism even in the face of discouragement and discomfort. What a great adventure you've had. But more importantly, what a deeply transformative experience you'd had as you've given yourself completely to the service of the Lord. I have witnessed, from thousands of miles away, your testimony of the healing power of the atonement become more real as you've worked with the beautiful people of the Philippines. You have always been inspiring to me because of your earnest desire to be good and do what's right. These past 18 months I have not only felt inspired but uplifted and strengthened as I read your letters. Thank you for being a shining example to all those who know you as a woman of faith and strength. I am blessed to have you as my friend. I love you!
